  Labas and welcome to this site. The object of the site is to teach basic Lithuanian. This site will also teach about the country of Lithuania. With the technique of the site, learning a language is easy. This plan is broken up into little sections making it easy to have learning a language revolve around you, because we understand you have a life. So relax and enjoy thie experiance of learning a language.

The Plan
    
In as little as fifteen minutes a day, you could be on yor way torwards learning Lithuanian. This site makes it easy, because after new words are introduced, you will no longer see them in English. That will help you remember words which other sites won't reinforce. Lithuanian is not by any means a very easy language, but it could be as easy as reading a webpage.


Preparation
    To prepare you should get a Lithuanian-English Dictionary, because there will always be a will to learn new words. We do not have a preferred one. Just make sure it suits your needs. Even we cannot teach all words. We will teach you the basics, but the rest is up to you.
   Many computers are not configured to see Lithuanian letters. There is a simple test to see if your computer can read Lithuanian letters. Go to the link below and compare the letters there to the letters below the link. If the letters don't match you need to configure the computer.

If the letters are not the same, then you will not be able to properly read Lithuanian letters on the computer. By doing the following, you should be able to see and write Lithuanian letters the right way.

Apple:
Go to control panel and click on International. Click on Input Menu and check Lithuanian. Also check Keyboard Viewer. Whenever you want to use Lithuanian, change your country's flag to the Lithuanian Flag. Click on Keyboard viewer to see how to type Lithuanian Characters. Go to Safari and to preferences. Go to appearance and click Central European (Mac OS)

Windows:
Install Multilanguage support by opening control panel, Windows Setup- add/remove windows components- and install it

Download a keyboard layout setup program Here and install it. (http://courses.washington.edu/lith says to do it by:
Run go.inf or install program to do that. After that, choose the Lithuanian keyboard layout in your control panel, marking "show keyboard indicator on the taskbar. Make sure that you can see letters LT or EN in the lower right corner of your screen. After switching into LT, you should be able to type Lithuanian characters as well as English ones.
